Pier Bracket & Lifting Beam
Bayonne Bridge, New York City
The pier brackets for the Bayonne Bridge Project in NYC are a necessary and important temporary fabrication that, once attached to the new piers, enable the contractor to place the first precast segments that make up the roadway approach. By using a hydraulic lifting beam (also an F&M MAFCO custom fabrication), the contractor will place the segments and use (4) 800 Ton hydraulic rams, placed on top of the pier brackets, to make the final roadway elevation and slope adjustments. Once the approach between 2 piers is connected, the pier brackets will be removed and jumped to the next piers. This method of using heavy equipment in bridge production has proved to be highly efficient. We’ve supplied 3 sets of pier brackets to the site, with a 4th set in production.
