Honoring Workers Memorial Day

Observance

Workers Memorial Day (U.S.) and Workers Day of Mourning (Canada) are observed annually to remember those harmed or killed by workplace incidents, illnesses, and diseases. It also serves as a call to action for prioritizing workplace safety, and preventing future tragedies.

On April 28th, AMECO is encouraging a moment of silence on Workers Memorial Day as a sign of respect and solidarity with those affected by workplace tragedies.

Beyond the Statistics

Each year, across Canada and the United States, thousands of lives are lost on the job and many others experience serious life-altering injuries and illnesses. Statistics shared by federal occupational agencies only include what is reported, and there is no doubt that the total number of workers impacted is even greater. With each worker tragedy there are loved ones, family members, friends and co-workers who are directly affected, left behind, and deeply impacted — their lives also forever changed.

How to Support

On Workers Memorial Day, let’s take a moment to remember and honor workers who have suffered injuries or lost their lives due to workplace hazards. AMECO is proud to participate in advocacy efforts and to raise awareness and work toward creating safer and healthier work environments for all. We stand in solidarity with workers worldwide and renew our commitment to ensuring that every worker returns home safely at the end of each day.
