Drum Mandrels

Are 10-1/2” (266.7mm) to 17-1/2” (444.5mm) in overall length depending on the size of the expander being used. Drum mandrels are used in watertube boiler drums when the inside diameter of the drum is large enough to accept the mandrel and the tube expander’s drive motor. Drum Mandrels are also used when rolling tubes into firetube boilers.

Short Series Mandrels

Are used in watertube boilers when the drum or header is too mall in diameter to accept the larger length drum mandrel. Short Mandrels are also used in watertube boilers when there is an immediate bend at the header or drum. It may take 3 or more short series mandrels to obtain the full range of the tube expander. Short series mandrels are not recommended for 1527 roll length expanders.

Header Mandrels

Are made with a long head for reaching through a header or water leg.

Reverse Mandrels

Are used in firetube boilers where there is limited space in the combustion chamber and the tubes must be rolled from the opposite end.
