Stiffleg derricks are a unique and creative rigging solution. They can offer a cost-effective, low-maintenance, high lift capacity option for the right erection or maintenance project. Designed on geometric principals, derricks can lift more than they weigh because the reactions (uplift and thrust) of the load are transferred into whatever the derrick is mounted on. In addition, derricks hold extremely high capacities at a long radius compared to cranes.

Ideal applications for derricks are cable-stayed bridge erection, boiler and power plant erections and retrofits, steel erection, and limited access projects.They are also excellent for marine applications, including barge mounted operations, stevedoring, clamming, and dredging.
